SOCA Named as a Winner of the ArchDaily 2026 Next Practices Awards - one of 20 Practices Expanding Architecture’s Agency

September 15, 2026 — ArchDaily announced today the 20 winners of its sixth annual Next Practices Awards. The 2026 cohort represents the program's most globally diverse selection to date, spotlighting emerging practitioners who are radically expanding the boundaries, tools, and social impact of the discipline.

While the 2025 edition highlighted an "architecture of care," the 2026 edition shifts focus toward agency, celebrating practices that actively transform their contexts by addressing environmental vulnerability, social inequity, and spatial displacement. The winners span extreme environments, informal cities, and rural communities, utilizing tools that range from digital fabrication and robotics to Indigenous knowledge and archival research.

"In 2026, agency speaks to architectureʼs capacity to influence social, environmental, cultural, material, and spatial conditions," states Christele Harrouk, Editor-in-Chief of ArchDaily. "What is 'next' is not defined by a single approach, but by the capacity to respond to specific realities while opening new possibilities for the discipline."

Selected from an international longlist curated by ArchDaily editors, the final cohort was evaluated by an expert guest jury: .

● Nicolas Fayad & Charles Kettaneh (Founders, EAST Architecture Studio)
● Susana Rojas Saviñón (Co-Founder, Estudio Ome)
● Javier Ors Ausín (Director of Thematic Programs, World Monuments Fund)
● Sumayya Vally (Founder, Counterspace)
● Oanh Nguyen Henriksen (Partner, Dorte Mandrup)

The Next Practices Awards were launched in 2020 and have become a key milestone in the global architectural landscape. Its awardees throughout the years have included practices working across distinct geographies, scales, and realities, expanding their work and receiving further accolades along the way.
